Barack Obama
KMOV [St. Louis, MO] Interview
June 10, 2008

Reporter: “For a couple of days, they’ve been saying you voted to raise taxes something like 94 times. That seems to be the drumbeat that’s going to happen during this campaign. Are you going to raise taxes in a big way for average Americans?”

Senator Obama: “I mean this is the standard fare of politics. And the truth of the matter is that the only bills that I voted for, for the most part, since I’ve been in the Senate were introduced by Republicans with George Bush. You know, they were the majority for a big chunk of the time I was here.”

An Email From Joe Biden

I received the following email from Joe Biden at 4:52am today-

Michael –

John McCain just accepted the Republican nomination and adopted the most conservative platform in the history of his party.

After days of negative attacks — and no mention of real proposals to fix our economy, get more people health care, or make America safer — the party that brought you eight years of disastrous policies is asking for four more.

Well, not if we have anything to say about it.

Across this nation, people like you have joined this movement because you believe that we are better than the past eight years. And now that we are entering the final stretch, it’s going to take all of us to bring the change we need.

Step up at this crucial moment and make a donation of $5 or more to change our country.

After the last eight years, it’s up to you to keep America’s promise alive.

How can John McCain pull us out of the deep hole we’re in when he voted with George Bush more than 90% of the time?

The American people deserve more than a 10% chance at change.

No matter what McCain says, we can’t bring about change by relying on the same ideas that have failed us for the last eight years.

Show the McCain campaign that people coming together, giving what they can afford, and working toward a common purpose will transform this country.

Change begins with you. Please make a donation of $5 or more now:

Thanks for everything you’re doing,
Joe

Now, let’s look at that email, and point out the mistakes that the Democratic nominee for VP made.

After days of negative attacks — and no mention of real proposals to fix our economy, get more people health care, or make America safer — the party that brought you eight years of disastrous policies is asking for four more.

There is so much I want to cover with this one sentence. First, didn’t Barack Obama make attacks on the Republican party and John McCain specifically? I don’t remember McCain whining about the attacks, so I’m curious to know why Joe Biden is. And what speech was Biden watching? Don’t quote me on this, but I believe John McCain mentioned “change” something like ten times in his speech last night. That tells me that he’s looking to make things different in Washington. That tells me that a McCain-Palin administration would be different than the present Bush-Cheney fiasco. And! (it just keeps going), I believe John McCain spent a good few minutes or so comparing plans last night and how he planned to cut taxes, create new jobs, explore alternative energies, succeed in the Middle-East, and bring our troops home. I think Joe Biden lied…

How can John McCain pull us out of the deep hole we’re in when he voted with George Bush more than 90% of the time?

The American people deserve more than a 10% chance at change.

This goes along with what I said before. John McCain is aware, as all Americans are, that we are going through some tough times economically and in Iraq. John McCain has every intention to turn this nation around, get it pointed in the right direction, ease the pains Americans are facing, and create a better United States. It’s unfair to tell American citizens that they only have a 10% chance with McCain! He has far more experience and determination than Obama. And with an “outsider” such as Sarah Palin, things will surely change.

No matter what McCain says, we can’t bring about change by relying on the same ideas that have failed us for the last eight years.

Wake up, Joe Biden, and open your ears! Read the material on McCain’s website. Listen and pay attention to the many speeches he gives. He does not want to continue in the path that the Bush administration has us on! Sure, he doesn’t agree hand in hand with Obama when it comes to Iraq, drilling, or any other matter at that, but John McCain is a candidate of the right kind of change!

Show the McCain campaign that people coming together, giving what they can afford, and working toward a common purpose will transform this country.

I would like you to stick it to Joe Biden and his runningmate, Barack Obama. Click on the Contribute banner to the right of the page, and give a simple $1. Or $5. Anything to support John McCain. Your few cents (or large contribution) will help McCain and his supporters spread the truth! We can’t afford to let Obama and friends lie to the American public any longer. Something needs to be done! Your contribution will help create flyers, signs, banners, and other merchandise. It’ll help provide material for those who go door-to-door, and it will fund phone banks. I’m clicking… are you?

Even if you do not donate to the McCain-Palin campaign, I do hope you’ll support them by speaking the truth! Spread the word about what these two able candidates stand for. They can make America stronger, but only with our help. And ignore these awful emails sent out by the Obama campaign.

Edit: You can visit John McCain’s website by going to www.JohnMcCain.com. A donation made by clicking on the banner to the right goes directly to the McCain campaign, and it also contributes to the goal made by Blogs for John McCain of raising $10,000. So far, $1065.00 has been raised. To view the goals yourself, click here. Also, I would like to encourage you to leave your comments here on A Noob’s Life. Everyone’s opinion matters, and your opinion on my article matters to me most of all.

Associated Content Compares Candidates

I was researching the differences between John McCain and Barack Obama when I came across an article on Associated Content’s website. It covers a lot of the issues that American’s will look at in November when they walk into a voting booth and cast their vote. While I do consider it to be accurate, it is not complete. David Malone commented on it saying, “What was interesting was that no moral issues were addressed. This is a very sad election indeed, for it is the first in which it is no longer about America’s morality. Believe me when I say this, when you fix morality in a nation, the problems will correct themselves.

Putting moral issues aside (although they are extremely important), note the final paragraph.

On a variety of issues, with certain exceptions, Obama and McCain take different approaches. Obama tends to rely on government programs and spending to solve problems at home and diplomacy to solve problems abroad. McCain, on the other hand, tends to rely more on tax incentives and market-based solutions to address domestic concerns. McCain also would pursue a more vigorous foreign and national security policy, reserving the use of military force when necessary.

Government spending. Higher taxes. Meetings with world leaders that aren’t so friendly. An unsafe world. That’s Barack Obama.

Thanks to Associated Content for providing this accurate article. I give them, as well as Mark Whittington, the author, full credit. The original article can be accessed by clicking here.

John McCain’s Acceptance Speech

I thought it was unfair that the audience watching in St. Paul insisted on letting hecklers disrupt Sen. John McCain’s acceptance speech. In an audience that large, only the people close would be able to hear what anti-McCain hecklers were actually saying. That, and the inability of the audience to know when to applaude, may have softened McCain’s speech (not in a good way).

Oh well, that cannot be undone. What is important now is McCain accepted the nomination, and now he and Gov. Sarah Palin have 61 days to make their case. They have 2 months to prove to Americans that a McCain-Palin term in office doesn’t mean another 4 years of George W. Bush. No one want’s that. They have about 9 weeks to show is what exactly their plans are to change The United States of America for the better. I hope they can pull it off! And I’ll do everything I can to help them out.

Here’s the video for John McCain’s speech last night. I’ll have the text up as soon as it’s available.

Edit: The text is now available here on A Noob’s Life, thanks to Blogs for  John McCain’s Victory. Click “Read  More”

Why I Choose Jay Nixon

My mother doesn’t have health insurance. She can’t afford to go to the doctor, so when she’s feeling under the weather or loses sleep for two months because her shoulder is dislocated, she can’t seek medical attention. But why? Why did Matt Blunt cut my low income mother from any and all benefits back in 2005? I cannot answer that question, but I can say this! Thank goodness he’s not running for re-election, and thank goodness someone with brains, such as Jay Nixon, is running. Now, I’m a conservative republican, but… look at this! He’s going to help my mother get back what she lost so she can go see the family doctor and finally get some sleep!

On July 22, 2008 Jay Nixon announced his plan to restore the 2005 health care cuts, expand access to more children and help families manage costs. The plan would:

  • Restore health care coverage and benefits to the 400,000 Missourians who had it slashed in 2005 and draw down hundreds of millions of dollars a year in federal matching funds.
  • Expand access to Missouri children by: restoring coverage to children who had it slashed in 2005; reaching out to families with children currently eligible for Medicaid/S-CHIP but are not enrolled; and allowing families over 300 percent of the federal poverty level the opportunity to purchase affordable coverage for their children through S-CHIP.
  • Use technology and market forces to drive down the cost of health care for Missouri families. This includes establishing the Show-Me Health Consumer Web page, a one-stop-shop for Missourians to compare prices of health care plans, benefits and billing methods.
  • Create a more effective and efficient health care system by conducting strict performance reviews of the health care system and establishing a Blue Ribbon Commission to modernize health care delivery and management.
  • Focus on prevention and individual responsibility by: ensuring access to pre-natal care; improving immunization rates for young children; promoting tobacco prevention and increasing access to dental and vision services.

Pieces of McCain - Part 1

I’m going to start doing something I’ll call Pieces of McCain. Everyday on my blog, I’m going to post a little something about the Republican nominee, what he believes is best for our country, and my personal opinion on the topic. If you’re interested in the topic of the day, or would like to post your own opinion, don’t hesitate to leave a comment. It’s free!

John McCain believes it is strategically and morally essential for the United States to support the Government of Iraq to become capable of governing itself and safeguarding its people. He strongly disagrees with those who advocate withdrawing American troops before that has occurred.

It would be a grave mistake to leave before Al Qaeda in Iraq is defeated and before a competent, trained, and capable Iraqi security force is in place and operating effectively. We must help the Government of Iraq battle those who provoke sectarian tensions and promote a civil war that could destabilize the Middle East. Iraq must not become a failed state, a haven for terrorists, or a pawn of Iran. These likely consequences of America’s failure in Iraq almost certainly would either require us to return or draw us into a wider and far costlier war.

The best way to secure long-term peace and security is to establish a stable, prosperous, and democratic state in Iraq that poses no threat to its neighbors and contributes to the defeat of terrorists. When Iraqi forces can safeguard their own country, American troops can return home.

What does this mean to me?

As it says, a falied Iraq will provide unlimited resources for terrorists. These terrorists want nothing more than to kill innocent Americans, and they’ll be unstoppable if we leave Iraq without securing it first. Look at the world leaders that we’re having issues with right now! If we leave, they can move in themselves, undo everything we did, and begin recruiting, manufacturing weapons of mass destruction, and creating fear in the lives of individuals all around the world.

Obama’s plan wouldn’t work, either. Moving troops into another country still opens up plenty of opportunity for terrorists to invade Iraq and create a bigger mess than what there ever was.

As a teenager, I hate the thought of someday having to ship off to war or watch one of my friends go into combat. Sure, it’s happening everyday! But, why drag this out and fight overseas longer than what is necessary? Let’s finish the job, restore a state of peace, and let young Americans rest at home in their beds peacefully!

Sarah Palin’s Acceptance Speech at the RNC

Sarah Palin delivered a flawless acceptance speech last night at the Republican National Convention dispite teleprompter issues. She fired up conservatives in St. Paul, Minnesota as well as millions watching live on TV. Here’s the complete 40+ minute speech in video and text format brought to you by The Huffington Post.

Turning Political

As you may have noticed, the look of A Noob’s Life is changing. I have decided that, over the next two months, I will dedicate my entire blog to the candidates whom I believe should be elected into office. I hope you’ll join me in supporting Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain and his runningmate Sarah Palin as well as Democratic Nominee Jay Nixon, who is running for Governor in the state of Missouri. (Yes, you heard right. A Republican for President, and a Democrat for Governor.)

Follow me over the next 60 or so days as I talk about politics and my opinions regarding who should lead Missouri and, even bigger, the United States of America.
